Let's just accept the fact that Kelly Clarkson is the only American Idol who have lived up to her name as a winner of this talent search. Look at her now, she dominating the Billboards Charts, as well as the sales. With two Grammy awards for her album, Breakaway, Kelly Clarkson must be in seventh heaven right now. Kelly's first album "Thankful," released in 2003, debuted in the number one spot in both the US Billboard 200 and Canadian albums chart. It reached the double platinum mark for sales of two million copies on December 8, 2003.
Kelly's popularity is not surprising. She is the first winner of the
American Idol and people will definitely look up to her. However, to say that she just rose to fame because of AI is absurd! The girl has the talent, no doubt. She definitely has what it takes to be a great singer. Do you think she will win if she does not have a talent? She is also able to shift from pop to rock-influenced type of music which proves her versatility.
I heard Kelly's songs and they were all great. My personal favorite is her song Breakaway, which was co-written by Avril Lavigne, Bridget Benenate, and Michael Gerrard. Right now, Kelly is preparing for her next album next year. One of the possible songs that can be included in the album is "Go," which is featured in a commercial and advertising for the
Ford Motor Company.
