For all the Catholics out there, I bet the name Bernadette Soubirous is familiar. She was the famous woman whom the Mother Mary especially chose to make an appearance to and give a message for the whole world one fine morning in 1858. Bernadette of Lourdes, as she is known today, was born in 1844 to a miller family. She's the eldest of six children. Although she came from a poor family, Bernadette maintained a cheerful disposition in life. Mother Mary appeared before her in a cave near the place where she and her friends gathered wood. Mother Mary pointed to Bernadette a spring and asked her to drink from it. After this incident, a lot of devout Catholics visited the spot because it was said to miraculously heal all kinds of
infectious deadly sickness. But if there were believers, there were also skeptics. Later in life, Bernadette became a nun and was known all over the world as tho woman who saw Mary's apparition.
